How long is rehab for alcohol?

I think my boyfriend has a problem with alcohol. I am pushing him to go to rehab, but he says he doesn’t want to take time off work. How long will rehab take?

Inpatient rehab would take about a month, but his stay could always be extended. Recovery isn’t an overnight process, but hopefully your boyfriend realizes how important this is for his health!

If your boyfriends needs help, it’s worth it in the long run for him to take the time off and focus on his health. He can choose different lengths of stay, from 30 days to 60 days or even longer.

It is recommended by the National Institute on Drug Abuse that a minimum of 90 days in outpatient or residential treatment is needed. Recommendations also state that any less than 90 days in treatment will be less effective.
