I’m taking like 20 Vicodin a day, and I know that I’ve got a serious problem but I’m afraid that I can’t afford rehab. Right now I’m on Medicare. I think I need to go inpatient, does Medicare cover this?

Check with the rehab facility that you want to go to. Ask them if they accept Medicare, and how it usually works. There’s no harm in just asking, and you don’t have to make a commitment right then. I think that it can also differ by state, but usually Medicare covers inpatient drug treatment.

medicare type A should cover hospital stays, so if a doctor recommends that you go into rehab for 30 days or more, you’ll probably be fine. I know that part B can cover a little bit more, but you’ll need to look at your policy to find out if it covers outpatient drug rehab.

Medicare covers rehab in a skilled nursing facility. The definition of skilled nursing just means you would be in a place with a Nurse who is trained to handle rehab situations. you can see a list of things you need to qualify for rehab, and also you can see how long medicare pay for a rehab facility.

Medicare only paid for part of my rehab, I had to be in for like two and a half months and I had to pay this huge co pay. I felt like if I knew about this ahead of time. I would have really pushed to get out of rehab a lot sooner than I did. I couldnt afford that on my income.

Medicare will pay for up to 20 days in rehab. I was grateful for that when I needed it. 18 days could have raked up to have been quite a big bill I could not have afforded without the help of medicare.
