How long does it take to stop craving alcohol?

My best friend has just got sober, but is finding the cravings desperately hard. When are these likely to go away, cos I’m afraid she’ll drink otherwise.

It varies from person to person, some find that after a couple of months that the cravings have all but gone, for others it can be a few years.
