How do you know if you have an addiction?

Admitted myself to rehab awhile back for alcohol abuse. Apon leaving I never followed up with my aftercare plan and kinda blew the whole thing off. Long story short- drugs are now a part of my life and they werent before. I always looked at alcohol as seperate from drugs but now im not convinced they are. If you are alcoholic and do drugs how do you know if you have an addiction? and is it legit?

Addiction is a progressive disease, meaning the longer you use, the more you use and the worse it gets. So, it makes sense, that when you relapsed, you introduced drugs to the mix. Going to rehab was an admission of a problem. Obviously, you knew then, just like you know now that you need help. Please seek it. You have a life to live and getting into recovery is the first step to living it again.
