Its like everyone has an identical story when its about painkillers and getting addicted. As of yesterday I started prescription painkillers that my long-time and trusted doctor gave to me. At this point though Im hestitating to take the prescription I dont want to become addicted.

I think that if you take then as your doctor said to you'll be okay. It's still possible to become addicted, but its less likely

So here is my experience and I hope this helps. So I had a pinched nerve and required pain medication until my surgery. So for about two weeks i was on muscle relaxers and pain pills, went into surgery and then they put me on more. Four weeks later was when i noticed a difference. I was becoming more mobile and healing nicely from surgery when i realized i stopped taking them because my back was healing pretty nicely. I noticed that my arms started to hurt and I didn't feel right. Right away i knew the difference of the feeling when i started taking my meds again. Instead of the pain going away, i felt... more carefree or happy. Oh and let me tell you when i took one before drinking, oh my God that was good stuff. So fastforward 2 weeks when my doctor decided i was all healed from my surgery. I damn near flipped a table to hear i wasn't getting my pills. But you know what, i told my doctor about my worries and he told me he is going to have the ween me off. Not going to lie,i felt ashamed, i felt like my character was attacked until he told me that feeling is common. He explained to me how this can be normal after surgeries and i had to make a choice. Was i going to try to keep taking pain pills for no pain or make efforts to get off of them.
