How addictive is amphetamine?

I'm a recovered alcoholic and drug addict. I recently started going to a psychiatrist and he knows about my past drug use and that I am in recovery. Here is where im conflicted - he prescribed me a drug for ADHD that has amphetamines in it. I have never done uppers, mainly just alcohol and opiates so I need to know how addictive amphetamines are and if i should take the prescription or not.

Although it is a commonly spoke opinion, everyone is different and some people may need prescriptions that have amphetamines
