I started taking morphine to help stop spasms and excruciating pain happening in my upper/middle back but Im a little flipped out about the outcome of taking it and think i might be getting addicted to the morphine. Is this possible or am I just being over dramatic.

While it is not probable the answer is yes. While the risk for addiction is low the risk is still there.

I would not describe you as being over-dramatic. Maybe extra cautious, but even still caution is always prefered over the alternative of not giving a damn. And yes morphine is addictive and the likeliness of you or anyone else taking morphine for a while to get addicted is unusually high. If it makes you that nervous try going back to the doc to have him/her prescribe you something less addicting, because we all know they have medications that fall into the less addicting category.

If you're taking morphine, which is an addictive medication, then yes it is possible. At very least if you are using it daily then you can develop a physical addiction which requires a detox period, but it is also mentally addictive. If you're worried about taking addictive medications or developing an addiction to your medication, you could try talking to your doctor about alternative pain management methods.
