Can addiction be genetic?

My point in disclosing this is to seek info on addiction in a general sense. Many relatives of mine have the disease so I'm partially predisposed to it due to environment and how my childhood panned out but is it genetic is what i want to know.

Even if you are predisposed and genetically linked to the disease of addiction that doesnt condemn you and tell your future. Not one person is cursed with the disease simply due to genetic make up.
