Are heroin addicts dangerous?

Heroin never was a concern until I began hearing about an epidemic going on while watching the news. I have two young teens and I am concerned about them being out and about in the city we live in.

People tend to perceive users of heroin as bad people. This is not cool, because it is not the addict that is bad, it is the drug and the disease.
