Are gateway drugs addictive?

I would at all times call nonsense when a person told me how marijuana is a gateway drug and if said person claimed it has addictive qualities. Clearing my head a bit, I see how people could think that about weed. I realized how many additional drugs I had been taking regularly aside from weed.

I don't trust in the gateway drug theory... the first experience of mine with smoking weed was when I was 14 years old. I never went on to do more or different drugs and concluded that it was a teenager phase.
