Thankful for so many people here. Suicide is a very scary thing and this facility helped keep our loved one safe. They also set us up with a psychiatrist appointment within couple weeks after our daughter discharged. We have been trying to get into a psychiatrist and waiting months!

When I was here as a teen it took them almost a week for me to be seen by a psychiatrist. As a patient you have a right to see someone when you arrive so your able to get the care you need to move on. This place feels more like they care about money then the patients well-being. There is great staff in some parts, but I think it’s not a good option if your looking for somewhere to take your children.

Staff here was kind and professional. I see not everyone had the same experience but in our case the care was good and they were able to make Med adjustments which seemed to do the trick. I recommend over other facilities I’ve had experience with.

Every aspect of my life has improved since I went to Peak View Behavioral Health. My dad and I have had a pretty strained relationship ever since I started using when I was 16. I love my dad and have always wanted to mend our relationship. The problem was that I couldn’t stay clean. We’d go out to lunch or dinner and he’d be wondering the whole time if I was getting high. When I would see high sober he never trusted that it was something that would last. It sucked not having his trust but the truth is I didn’t trust myself to stay clean so really, it’s not as if my dad could. I hate going to rehab. I mean everyone does but for me it wasn’t that I hated the work to get clean. I hated everything about the rehabs. The staff, the other patients, the furniture. I mean everything. I always felt so uncomfortable at those places and it was impossible for me to open up about my life when I felt so uncomfortable. When I got to Peak View Behavioral Health I was expecting to feel the same aversion to the facility. Before I went I had decided that I would give the facility a week before I decided if I hated it or not. At Peak View Behavioral Health though I felt safe. Not right from the start because it’s impossible to feel comfortable right from the moment you walk into a rehab. Everything is completely unfamiliar and I always feel so awkward in those kinds of situations. The staff there were really patient with me though. They didn’t push me to do anything that I wasn’t completely comfortable with. They didn’t expect me to start opening up about my life the first day I was there or anything like that. There was an understanding that I was really reserved about everything and they respected that. Because of that, because I wasn’t pushed right from the start I was able to start feeling safe and comfortable there. That is what made the difference between Peak View Behavioral Health and every other rehab I’ve been to in the past. The staff cared enough about me to not push me into something I wasn’t ready for. I did feel safe there though and so I was able to get through the uncomfortable times when I didn’t want to deal with something but that I obviously needed to deal with. The other clients I went through the program with were great. Every one of us was there to get help. No one’s parent or husband or wife made them go. Each of us wanted to get help and so we were really able to help each other get through it. I made friends there that I will have for the rest of my life and who have helped me so much not only at Peak View Behavioral Health but since graduating and leaving the program. The program was hard for me, but coming home was even harder. I didn’t have any friends who didn’t get high and being at home night after night with no one to talk to and nothing to do would have driven me crazy if it weren’t for the guys at Peak View Behavioral Health that I met who were having the same problem. Having someone to talk to for hours at a time each of us making sure the other was okay and not thinking about going out and getting high was a lifesaver for me. I want to believe I would have stayed clean without that but honestly, I needed that. My relationship with my dad is so much better. Since I was 16 I’ve been wanting a real relationship with my dad and I finally have that. We can go out to lunch and he isn’t worried I’m getting high. Our conversations don’t revolve around drugs and rehab anymore and that’s honestly amazing to me. My dad finding Peak View Behavioral Health and helping me get there was literally the best thing that’s happened to me in a really long time.

I felt that some of the technicians were great I felt the doctor was absent minded the medical doctor and not thorough I felt they needed one-on-one counseling they did not have I felt it was completely shut down and a failure I would not recommend this place to anybody I got nothing out of it and received nothing out of it I was very disappointed .I would agree with the assertion somebody else made that they seem to be more interested in the money than the patient. I hate to report that. They could do so much better.

A add-on. It would seem it depends on the patient on what care they get at the facility. Only because of the things that I read but my experience was not good they need one-on-one counseling for people that don't do well in groups they don't appear to have that which is a let down on the people that don't do well in groups or group settings. Their medical doctor is substandard. I don't know if it's because I'm transgender if that has anything to do with it I'm unsure but from the time I walked in there from the time I left it was complete and utter failure. I strongly suggest you check out other facilities before picking this one. If you want to do groups then maybe this is a place for you. If you're not into groups definitely do not pick this facility. they also did not deal with my meds or changing of my meds during the time I was in there they were of no help with my meds. Only leaving a star because I have to in order to write this review. I was forced to stay at Peakview Behavioral Health by Vanessa Martinez and Julie Sanford. I was sexually harassed daily and raped which the facility patient advocate Diane Crumb was aware of and did nothing to report it. So it’s been 2 years since my horrible experience and I’m very emotional about what happened to me there because it should have never been allowed to go on . I get nauseous reading all the other reviews because they sound very similar to mine. I asked to discharge several times a day and I also asked the staff to show me legal documents that state I have to stay there and of course they were never produced so I tried to leave and I was wrestled by a bunch of staff members after I told them I am not going back in that hallway and I was forcefully dragged and injured while the untrained staff violently forced me back into the hallway. I called CSPD many times from the facility and I never saw a cop because Peakview is involved in every shady crime there is , kidnapping false imprisonment, criminal intent to harm , sexual assault and battery, verbal assaults and physical assault. This was my first time having to deal with an M1 involuntary hold and I was not ever asked about my treatment I have a few documents signed by Dr Julie Sanford and I never saw her. After I was finally able discharge I filed a grievance with PVBH only to get a response from Diane Crumb the patient advocate that PVBH saying that they weren’t responsible for my injuries the hell they are I was forced to stay in there and everything that happened to me while I was in the custody of PVBH DrS and staff is going to eventually come back on them and they will have to face the law because eventually they will have to answer for this . I will continue to advocate for myself and I don’t appreciate that all of my rights that were violated by the staff at PVBH . Why would a facility want to keep someone that was misdiagnosed and clearly in a place I was not safe at and the fact that there is no security in a mental hospital blows my mind . These people don’t know what to do when people start fighting or someone keeps going in your room that you don’t want in there . Most people were asleep most of the time unfortunately the meds I was given which I did not consent to were making me even more agitated and anxious and my pulse and blood pressure was so high the idiot dra put me on blood pressure meds instead of just listening to me and giving me the meds I was taking when I was forced to be there . I kept insisting I needed my regular meds or they had to send me on my way because I didn’t want to be on all the antipsychotic meds they were giving me I’ve never been diagnosed as a psychotic until I was there and the drs there are not psychologists and one of my Drs doesn’t even have a license to practice in Colorado , this place is FRAUD!!

My first encounter with a suicide ward started with a strip search in an empty cinder block room with the door wide open and male techs hovering. My bra was taken, so I didn’t kill myself with the underwires, and the tech waltzed through the ward with my double Ds swinging from her arm. No orientation, no instructions or direction, no introductions made. I sobbed in my bed the first few hours (after joining a group in progress with no introduction or acknowledgment of my presence. It was finished and everyone got up and left) while a tech, who was posted at my roommate’s bedside 24/7, played on her phone. While in the shower, a tech stuck her head in and demanded to know if I was “intentionally throwing up in there.” I was complaining of nausea they said. I was complaining about not being allowed a little bag in case I did. I was to carry a trash can around with me was their solution. I used a styrofoam cup and hoped I wouldn’t make a mess. They thought I was spitting out my meds and made me sit in line of sight for half an hour after taking my sleeping meds. (At 8:00 at night. By night 3 I did spit them out and took them at 10:00 when I went to bed - like I’ve done for the last ten years.) I was definitely an inmate instead of a patient, a scary place to find yourself on a voluntary effort to find help in a difficult time. I’m now very aware of and concerned about Colorado ranking 42nd in the country for Mental Health. I feel for those struggling to find help and this being the best the Springs has to offer. Whoever the toupee-wearing doctor was, (I never spoke with him), was abysmal. I did witness how he treated others. Poop privacy please and don’t tell an Asian woman what her name and nationality really are - then adding a patronizing response to her objections. There are two big caveats to my experience. There are six of us women who will be forever friends. We call ourselves WOW300 - Warrior Women of Ward 300! We’re supporting each other through our healing processes. That’s been a priceless gift I received from my stay. The other game changer was the rec director. If I’d have been able to stay with Vickie in her healing haven for five days, I’d be cured from everything down to a hangnail! She, and her assistants, were amazing women. I don’t leave many negative reviews and take those I read with a grain of salt, but I hope this helps others to at least know what they’re putting themselves into if they’re in a fragile state. A little dignity and compassion would go a long way and it’s not that hard to come by - especially if you’re in the compassion business.
