I had a wonderful experience at New Start Recovery. The food, counselors, and staff are all amazing. I truly felt like all of the staff cared about me and wanted the absolute best for me. They worked tirelessly to provide a strong foundation for my sobriety. Everything from my admissions process to my discharge plan was handled by staff who really took the time to make the best decisions for me. I was scared to go out of state for treatment, but New Start made the transition better than I could have ever imagined. I would recommend this program to anyone trying to get sober.

As a first timer in treatment I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know how to seek outside help. I just knew my life was unmanageable and addiction was taking all I had day by day. Once I reached out to New Start, Paul was the only person out of like 5 rehabs to reach out to me everyday making sure I was ok. So I knew they truly cared. Once I entered Dorman I automatically felt that comfort. All the staff, therapists and cooks are truly genuine people who wanted nothing but the best for me! I chose to get help again because like always addiction had me in a tight corner, and i was unable to get clean without outside help. I came to New Start last year and it was my favorite out of the previous 6 rehabs I had attended, so I decided to call them again. I was responded to within the hour and they had me on a flight down within 48 hours. I appreciated the authenticity of the staff. They treat you like a real person and provide high quality individual and group therapy. The two staff members who help me the most were David and Jackie. They really spent a lot of time and effort in helping me as long as I was willing to ask for help. The program went above and beyond on all of my individual needs, and I would say they always made the effort to meet my demands. Improved my relationship my family tremendously through family therapy sessions. They helped rebuild and mend a disastrous 18 year relationship with my step mother. The program environment is very positive. They gave me all the support resources for my recovery that I could ask for in a treatment center. I would and will recommend New Start to others.

I was blessed enough to get my son into this recovery center. This was his second time in rehab but his first time here and what a huge difference. The staff is incredible and he has flourished there. They have been able to get him the right psych meds due to it being dual diagnosis. We cannot say enough of how pleased we are. No hidden costs or excessive billing to the insurance company. The structure , meetings and theraphy have made all the difference.

From the moment the New Start staff meet you at the airport or the front door, you are treated like a human being and not a disease or a commodity. The staff are all very competent and compassionate and make sure clients are at ease every step along the way of their treatment plan. The facility is very comfortable and clean and the food is outstanding! For it being such a difficult moment in life, it was a very positive experience.

They truly care about what i did and they dont sugar coat anything. Through out my years of in and out of the program, New Start has been the most instrumental in my life and recovery. Before achieving the sobriety I have now, I was in and out of a lot of different places. The detox aspect of recovery was always the scariest stage. I can't say enough good things about the staff, the house itself, the food and the experience. I went in as a relapsed alcoholic and came out a week later with not only a new outlook on my addiction, but also with the tools to help me cope with what was going on with me internally. I'd tried once prior at a detox that was nowhere near what New Start was like. And suffice it to say, it didn't work. However, when I left New Start, I knew I was on a path to real recovery. Not just high hopes. I can't thank the people there enough for showing me how to live with addiction and how to overcome it daily. I now go back to the home and speak at the panels held there weekly. And when I do, they are more than grateful to see me, to see me being of service and to welcome me with open arms and hearts. But nowhere near as grateful as I am today for them. Thank you all.

This is the best place for somebody to go if they need treatment they are very small and that you got a lot of one-on-one time with your counselor they have an amazing alumni program and an amazing detox program to make sure that you feel comfortable. Their shafts are amazing I of the shifts there

My brother has been suffering with addiction for almost all of his adult life. Mainly Heroin . Our family was very frustrated and we were losing hope as he had been to many detox facilities and residential facilities before, and he kept relapsing. Finally, we found New Start . We were hopeful that this time it would be successful as my brother had hit rock bottom. He was homeless. We got him into their program and he completed his detox . It lasted about 7 days. He came out very optimistic, he looked much healthier and he is now transitioning into a residential program. Dr. Cohen was so helpful in transitioning him into the right facility for his next steps. I wanted to thank the staff at New Start for all of their care. They really treated him well and kept our family updated everyday on his progress. I truly believe the teams support was crucial in his motivation to become sober. I highly recommend this place to anyone struggling with addiction.

Went there when my addiction was at its worst. They practically saved my life. Staff is knowledgable and understanding, they really care for you as a person. They take good care of their patients and will provide medical care. The food was damn-delicious and the cooks are real cool people too. They got T.V. And you can watch movies n stuff. They do group and individual therapy. It's just a great service. If you are looking for a way out the madness this place is highly recommended. As a disclaimer, don't shove any illegal substances in any of your orafices and try to sneak it in because they will find out.

I wanted to share our family's experience with New Start Detox. My brother had been suffering from drug and alcohol based addiction for many years and finally hit his low point in March of this year . It was a very stressful time for us. We looked around for many detox facilities in Santa Ana but most of the representatives seemed to care more about what insurance he had or money rather than his well-being. We were fortunate enough to find new start detox. This was the first time that my brother would be going into a detox program, he was a little nervous about the process and the potential withdrawal symptoms. from the moment he walked into New Start Detox, he felt extremely comforted as well as my family. We were all well-informed to the entire detox process. He made it through fantasticly and I highly recommend this place

The food is great, the staff are great, the houses are great, I think you get the point. On every aspect this place gets 5 stars: they make sure you are comfortable, happy, and safe. I've been to many places and honestly, at this one, I didn't feel ANY withdrawal symptoms. They know what they are doing and they do it right. Now it's only 7 days minimum, but they help transition you to wherever you are going next and make it as easy and painless as possible weather you're doing inpatient, IOP, sober living, whatever. They set it up and get you into the NEXT facility for you. You have nothing to worry about coming here because they do everything. Just a note. if you smoke, bring enough cigarettes for your stay. This place is just hands down amazing and the best spot to go to it really is .Sadly, I've been to 10+ detox and rehab facilities and this is by far the best and most comfortable I've been to places not just in California, but in PA, Florida, Texas, and Utah so I’m confident when I say this is best in the nation. Please go to new start and get what you deserve and they give a NEW START. You don't have to live that life anymore your all amazing people that let a drug(s) and/or alcohol take over you but it doesn't have to stay like that there is hope and this place is your best shot at a fresh start at a new, healthy, happy, and SOBER life. Please stop thinking about it and give this place a call and see for yourself that you are worth it and you are a good person and new start will help you find that person again. I can't thank this place enough… words just don't do it justice, but THANK YOU with all I got, with all my heart thank you New Start Detox on my new start on life. First off to the 1 negative review listed on this site. I can assure you that this review and what was written was based more out of someone not getting their way and out of anger more than reality. I was there with her in the facility and what she wrote was not accurate. All the staff is very nice and respectful In my opinion, maybe she just wasn't ready to detox. If you come into a facility angry and on a negative mind set, it will work against your treatment. There are rules and regulations and one of the rules is that it's a 7 day hiatus from the outside world, which I mean …..give me a break! All addicts, Myself included, have been getting high and hurting people for years, so give yourself and your loved ones a 7 day break. The comment about the pool was wrong. As shown on the website and other connected sites, there are two houses- one with a pool and one without, but we aren't there to swim… we are there to get better, which new start does an amazing job at.

I came to New Start from North Carolina after my addiction had become the most debilitating it had ever become, my life at its most unmanageable. I was received with a warmth and genuine concern of my well-being that I will never forget! From its very talented clinical staff to the smiling facility's groundskeepers, New Start individualized my care so that it became impossible to "fall through the cracks" like I had in other treatment centers where "treatment as usual" is the common approach; this was anything but that. I came to New Start with little in material and less in virtue & self-esteem/ worth, and I left with a part-time job, a follow-up in psychiatric care, and I was transitioned expertly to my next step (IOP/ sober living)! All of this is to say that as a result of going to New Start--that small show of willingness--my life has only improved so much. It didn't "fix" my life, but I did get a wonderful, fresh New Start in recovery. ps. Naj and Lupe, the genius chefs that are employed with NS, they actually made some of the greatest food I have ever eaten.

This was the asolute worst detox I have ever been to in my life. First of all its false advertisement there is no beautiful pool with a beautiful house but that is besides the point. The staff at this place is awful, they didn't give me my anti depression meds for 3 whole days, the over night shift woman was supposed to take my BP every 30 minutes my first night and I couldn't sleep at all because they also forgot my sleep meds, she didn't come in my room one time. I went out to smoke and she was just inside on her phone the whole time. I could have been dead in there the whole time and all she cares about was Facebook. And then I went to get my BP in the morning and she just wrote random BP numbers for me really fast as if she had taken them all night but she was on Facebook all night. they were absolutely rude and disrespectful one of the staff members named Jan was negetive, degrading, and treated all of us like dirt. Every client got the same treatment not just myself. She had me and one other girl crying in our bedrooms because of her degrading attitude and obvious hatred of her life and job. Every review on here must be fake because every person I was there with agreed that it was a house of horrors. Do not go here, please, you will receive the worst care I have ever witnessed.
