I'd give them 5 stars but the only recommendation for after care was another Acadia center in California. I got zero help setting up an Outpatient program in my hometown from the continuing care staff. I needed to get back to work! I complained to every staff member that would listen about it too. They must get a referral commission. I've stayed sober since my release & was able to set up my own "IPO"

My family member is there for PTSD. This is the second visit and after 2 weeks they act like the didnt know they diagnosed him last visit. They wasted 2 weeks and now that we have called it to their attention ( more than once) we are still not getting the help he needs. They dont seem to communicate with each other. The therapist he has is not doing a good job at all. What is going on over there??

This will be a long post so be prepared I will tell everything good and bad about Sierra Tucson. The bad things will go first since there are so few to add. First off it’s in the desert and it’s hotter than hell. It’s on 164 acres and there’s a lot of walking to do. However , if doctor orders you can get an electric cart to get around. So it’s important to stay hydrated. There are rules that you must follow and there are consequences. The only part about this experience that surprised me was their level of security. When you first get there you are almost strip-searched and patted down. You wear a wrist band that has a tracking device imbedded. It’s expensive but based on my experience of staying there for 10 days it’s the best money I could’ve ever spent for myself. Sierra Tucson is not only a rehab for addiction but it’s also a place to go for mental health.That’s about all the bad things I have to say about this place now on to the good things. First of all I’m not an employee of this company , I was there as a patient. A big plus is that they except most insurances.Sierra Tucson is like a four star resort. Instead of laying in the sun all day you work on yourself, you go to groups and individual counseling and therapeutic modalities. They have a pool that is open for two hours every day for swimming playing pool volleyball and basketball. This is a great way to get to know your fellow peers.Such as equine therapy,!massage, acupuncture, shiatsu, chiropractic care, hydrotherapy, physical therapy etc. The staff is top notch from the chefs to the janitors to the nurses to the therapist everyone works at a high-level. You are respected and cared for with the most professional and professionalism as possible. They have transportation from either the Phoenix airport or the Tucson airport. I would suggest flying into Tucson as the drive from Phoenix is 2 1/2 hours. However driving through the desert at night and seeing all the stars was an amazing experience in itself. This is coming from a sunny California girl.The rooms at the lodges are like hotel rooms you only have one roommate and there are two queen size beds. The bathrooms are very large with a lot of the little amenities you get when checking into the hotel.I could go on and on about how wonderful this place is I give it five stars because that’s what it deserves. Special shout out to Dan P. ,Dr. Davis and Reynolds, PA. Also shouts go out to all the amazing nurses the rasc’a (sp) especially Roamon and raider dude! I was there for the processing of my grief after the death of my husband along with depression and anxiety. In 10 days they took me from 0 to 100 and I can’t thank them enough. I was able to leave my grief, depression and anxiety in the desert where it belongs.I will probably never see any of the people I met again but every person I met touched me in a very personal way. So to those at Sierra Tucson patients and staff I salute you all. If you want more information or have questions just ask me.

Absolutely one of the worst experiences I have ever had in my life. I will be following up with a more thorough review in the next week. If I could give a zero I would. All I want to do right now is post this for anyone who might see this at the present time. This used to be a 5 star facility before big corporation took over. Please, please look elsewhere . Therapists are mostly young and inexperienced, with some exceptions. Giant waste of money and time. I will be posting in detail at a later date.

Very disappointed in Sierra Tuscan. Family week was bashing parents of the patient. Found the therapist to be hostile, arrogant, condescending to the family members. They manipulate and control every conversation with the family member always wrong. This is not family week - it was misrepresented. It’s a week for the patient to tell you what a bad parent you were - never there for me- did not give love. Doesn’t work on the real reason for being there. And do not work on relationships. They are always very willing to take you money. They are a pro profit organization. That is the only thing that matters. Waist of money. They do not care for the family relationships.

Parents be weary. On this last day of the 30 day program this place recommended my son be sent to NSights in CA. He is suppose to leave tomorrow morning. I have left several messages to have him call me back. He normally calls me right away. It seems as if they are trying make sure he gets to NSights without my full consent. So what is it in it for them, obviously it’s not my sons wishes to go through a different program. Is it a kick back, only God knows. Sierra Tucson is a great place for recovery if you are willing to be open and honest and truly want help. The staff is great and they treat many different types of illnesses. They helped save my life and am currently 6 months sober, but with that said it is up to the person to keep working on there issues once they leave.

I visited a family member here. I was determined for her to stick it out in her program despite her complaints, but I changed my mind when I visited. I was so disappointed that this place doesn't provide the services advertised on their website and couldn't give my family member the individualized treatment she needed. Based on my observations, I do not recommend Sierra Tuscon for eating disorders, specifically binge eating disorders, for the following reasons: (1) Lack of individualized treatment: She was required to attend lectures on drug addiction, and yet had few sessions pertaining to the reason she was there. (2) Lack of one-on-one therapy: in the 11 days that she was there, she did not have the opportunity to meet with her assigned therapist one-on-one. (3) They didn't know her: the 2 times family members visited on the weekends, there was not a contact available who could speak to or even pull up a file regarding her treatment plan. (4) False advertising: The services and sample schedules listed on the website are not what is provided. The website lists specific therapies that were not offered to my family member, and when she went to patient advocacy to request them, they said they'd "make a note" and never got back to her after a week. (5) Lack of outdoor activity: despite the pretty setting, the only sitting areas available outside are for smoking. I think this might be geared towards people with chemical addiction, but it was off-putting for a non-smoker. The air outside smells like smoke. Despite the website advertising hiking as an activity, my family member didn't have an opportunity to hike in the 11 days that she was there. (6) Lecture-based learning: much of her day was scheduled with power-point lectures in a classroom setting. It depends on what kind of learner you are, but for someone who needs more interactive experiences to learn, this was not very effective. (7) There was only 1 other person there for a binge eating disorder, and I think it would have been helpful for her to be an environment with people suffering from the same condition. This isn't a comprehensive list of our complaints, but just some of the main reasons why I and my family supported her decision to leave. I tried to contact Sierra Tuscon through their "Contact Us" portal with these complains and they didn't respond.

I would not recommend this place to anyone with an Eating Disorder. I actually got worse while I was there. They also do not tell you about the hospital stay that you have to go through. Luckily I left this place and went to a proper treatment facility. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do, but well worth my recovery. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! So many better options for treatment that give you lasting recovery!!!

SIERRA TUCSON WAS AN ABSOLUTE GAME CHANGER FOR ME. THE STRUCTURE OF A TEAM APPROACH TO MY RECOVERY REALLY WORKED. ALSO, THE SET UP AND TRADITIONS OF THE WARRIOR LODGE WERE EXTREMELY BENEFICIAL. MY CONTINUED WORK WITH MY RECOVERY COACH--TWYLA KEEPS ME COMPLETELY ENGAGED IN MY RECOVERY. AT FIRST, I THOUGHT IT WAS A BIT GOOFY. NOW IF I DON'T GET A NOTIFICATION TO UPDATE MY RECOVERY, IT IS DEFINITELY NOTICED. FOR ME IT IS THE LITTLE THINGS THAT KEEP ME ENGAGED, EXCITED AND MOTIVATED AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT, CONNECT 365 DOES THAT FOR ME. LOOK FORWARD TO IT ON A DAILY BASIS!!! This was a terrible choice. All they care about is money. They care more about you if you a private pay then insurance. They claim to have good meals. They don't. Same things over and over. Connect365 is a terrible program. My "coach" hardly talked to me. They dismiss you in all sorts of ways. Favor who they want. Taught me nothing. Classes become the same time and time again. I would Highly recommend looking else where!

Don’t go unless you can enter whole heartedly. Second time around I did and ST met all my expectations. Most significantly, the professional staff did everything in their power to work with me to get me on the road to recovery, even working overtime and at night with me. I left ST happier than I had been in years. Like everything, you get out what you put in. At least that was my experience.

Sierra Tucson was a literal life saver not only did they help and aid my road to recovery they worked through my ptsd with disassociation , bipolar, and anxiety attacks. They gave me helpful tools and life skills that I now use on a daily basis. They also provided me with healthy eating habits I was so focused on how to get my next fix and how miserable I was that I wasn’t eating at all and sierra Tucson helped me gain weight and knowledge about healthy eating. This place is AWFUL and a huge scam. They had 150 patients when I was in there (which is horrible for people with PTSD) and were way past max capacity, therefore services like one on one treatment sessions were backed up by weeks. I had to leave this treatment center and go to another one (I went to the life healing center in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and it saved my life. Go there!) I did not stay for my full 45 days, I was only there 20, And after the fact I had to argue with these people in billing for months because they kept trying to bill me for the full 45 days when I was only there for 20. They also lied about co-pay amounts and other insurance issues. They ended up leaving me alone, it’s probably because they knew that they were in the wrong and I did not end up having to pay more, but it was a circus dealing with those people. This place is terrible. Go to the refuge in Florida or the life healing center in New Mexico they’re incredible and both cost less too and have smaller patient counts so you’ll have a much more intimate loving community, not like 150 at Sierra Tucson where there’s constant drama.

It only works if you work. ST planted a recovery seed and helped me process through major PTSD. It was a six-week reprieve, the acid test is getting back in to the outside world. I was there in 2006. In my experience over 50% there just weren't ready yet to give up their 'ism' - what ever that is, including staying compliant on meds. Save your money till you're desperate for a new way of life, truly pivotal gift that's necessary, in my experience, to do things differently

The staff and the specialist are excellent and but one needs to be aware that facility is owned by a hedge fund,Bain Capital, and therefore is a business at it’s core and can be quite ruthless when check out time comes. Also the mood disorder clinic is an afterthought when compared to the drug and alcohol recovery units because that is wjhere the big bucks are and management are well aware of that fact. The staff on the clinical side.are very caring. Bain knows it is primarily a cash business and has bought up many like facilities.

Choosing a treatment center is not an easy decision. There are lots of uncertainties. If you are in a position where your life is out of control or you don't even feel like living, then it can be almost impossible. Any one who is in need of treatment faces unique challenges: financial, behavioral, familial, etc. And a treatment center must attempt to bring personalized care to each patient while simultaneously being able to attend to the daily needs of all its patients. The center must not only look after the physical, psychological, and spiritual needs of the patient, it must ensure everyone's safety and security: that includes the staff as well. As you can imagine, its a huge undertaking. And the treatment center is not a charity. There must be profit involved to keep the place running. Lets be realistic. This is the American way. So if you are at that very critical stage where you need to get yourself into treatment, or continue to suffer, it would benefit you to keep this all in mind before you come to Sierra Tucson. I was a patient three times and successfully completed three twenty five day stays. I went for addiction, trauma, and depression. My first time I did not know what to expect. I was lucky enough to have insurance that would pay for twenty five days. At first you are going to freak out. It is a strange, disorienting experience and you are going to be inside with patients who have very serious psychological problems. Don't fool yourself. This is not a vacation. There are going to be lots of rules. And the rules are designed to keep you and the staff safe. But if you are serious about your recovery, you are going to find that you are offered a transformative experience to learn about yourself, learn about your illness, and learn how to achieve more happiness in your life after you go home. This experience is not for complainers or insubordinates. You will be miserable if you resist. You will need to face reality. The staff is amazing and they will guide you through the process if you treat them with the respect they deserve. They are not the enemy; your illness is. They will attempt to give you the best treatments for your illness possible. But you need to be honest.They are not magicians nor mindreaders. There are going to be days you are miserable and where you hate everyone. But that's life. You need to face it. There will also be lots of love, support, caring, and encouragement. Do yourself a favor; if you can get to Sierra Tucson and you are struggling with addiction, depression, trauma, pain, grief, fear, hopelessness or anger, check yourself in and start a new life for yourself. It can be worth it if you are willing to let go and push through and ask for help. I am not perfect and I can't guarantee you Sierra Tucson will fix all your problems. But you have a chance and Sierra Tucson is designed to help you get yourself together so that when you leave you can continue to make positive changes in your life. I have an amazing Recovery Coach Twyla and if it wasn't for her I probably wouldn't be writing this review right now cause I'd be dead or somewhere getting high. Thank you Twyla and all of ST. I am a mother of two kids who went to Sierra Tucson, about a year apart, for their own independent challenges. I don’t wish to speak for them, but I can say that they both gained an incredible amount in a month’s time, made a great shift in their outlook and behavior that they needed to make, and feel quite positive about their experience there. My husband and I spent time there for Family Week, and we both learned a great deal from the talks and the communication work that we did. The therapists who worked with us both times were extremely skilled, compassionate, and dedicated. I appreciated experiencing equine therapy when I was there, it was a moving experience. The various therapies available there, such as somatic experience and EMDR, seem very effective. They emphasize continuing care after the typically 30-day stay. Fyi, Desert Flower is the initial unit—a holding place for a day or two (or three, depending on the detox necessary, if any is necessary), until they’re confident the person is safe and ready to join in the community. They’ve been doing this for a long time, and have a wisdom about their methods. The whole atmosphere at ST is caring and calming—the staff and the residents—it has a nice community feeling. The building and interior are very nicely designed, set next to the beautiful mountains. I’m very grateful for Sierra Tucson, and highly recommmend it.

I had a wonderful experience at Sierra Tucson. I was treated with warmth and compassion. I felt safe and in professional capable hands. They supported me every step of the way. I would recommend this facility to anyone with a variety of issues. They have a great alumnus retreat each year and fabulous alumni support. I am still in contact with several alumnus who had a 5 star experience and are still recovered today from Mood program, trauma program, chronic pain program, and addiction/co-occurring.

I went there for help, only to get worse. You first go to desert flower before residential which has very limited support and a lot of free time with nothing to do. You get lied to on the phone about what to bring and what will happen. The psychiatrist will tell you one thing, but do another. They want to put everyone on medication, thankfully I avoid it unless medically necessary. My experiences are only at desert flower as I didn't go to residential, but I would avoid this place at all costs.

I understand that it is the addict who is 'responsible for their behavior, but I sent him to Sierra Tucson with a warning that I was concerned he had a street drug addiction. They didn't listen to me, shut me out, other than their silly family week exercises, and even shamed me for insisting something more was going on. Guess what! He WAS a crack addict all along & he just used their 'treatment' to keep his secret, get out, get back home, & start using again.

I was a client here in November of 2015. Their program and staff are second to none. They are extremely discreet, professional, compassionate, and knowledgeable. The fact that they treat conditions other than addiction alone, makes them even more qualified to get to the root of addiction and help those who suffer from this disease. This is the only facility I would recommend for rehab from drugs and alcohol.

Please think of another place to go for help. Sierra Tucson has gotten itself too caught up with corporate B.S. Sierra Tucson is more interested in taking your insurance money than they are in Helping Patients. I personally witnessed patients being kicked out of the facility when their insurance stopped paying. Top executives only come out to show their faces when "Family Week" starts. Most of the time the great patient advocates hands are tied by the corporate B.S. Patients are treated like convicted criminals. Always under the evil eye of the guards. Yes, Guards! The facility itself is in disrepair, you only see the brand new dormitory online. (There are no tennis courts! There is no horseback riding! You are only allowed access to the pool under guarded supervision and only when Sierra Tucson allows) The patient therapists read from power point presentations that are boring and un helpful. When you first arrive at the facility, you are mislead at its outside beauty. Once upon being admitted to Sierra Tucson you and your luggage are immediately searched and then you are admitted to the "Hospital" better known as the TANK! (To Detox) Be prepared to be treated as a number with and insurance $$ sign on your back. When the money runs out, so does your time at Sierra Tucson unless you are dumb enough to stay and private pay.

STOP!!! This place is so misleading! All they want is $ especially if you have great insurance! I was led to believe that Sierra Tucson was a premiere BPD Treatment center! that my daughter would be exposed to and have daily DBT skill group the only proven effective treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder! My daughter left there convinced she was an addict and didn’t have 1 DBT SKILLS THERAPY! In fact the last week the family week where family’s and patients confront each other’s behavior and basically apologize and say if you do it again I will remove myself! Talk is cheap! Actually when I mentioned to the family therapist I had something I wanted my daughter to process while there In the Care of professionals,the family therapist said I will mention to her primary therapist and let me know! Well during one of our family sessions the topic I wanted my daughter to process came up! If u know Borderline!! She became emotionally unregulated and went into a rage! The out come! The family therapist said”why did I bring up the topic”” REALLY!!! What better place than with her therapist and family therapist. And than after the group the professional family therapist preceded to walk ahead of me as we walked back to main building clearly sending a message of disapproval (on the way to group we walked side by side)tMy daughter was promised DBT skill training and GOT NON Of THAT! In addition other modalities,Cranial Stimulation that were promised weren’t delivered and was informed that modality needed another Pryor insurance approval! Which will take time! Never Delivered! Yes she got massage acupuncture! Horse bonding therapy, peer groups ! She could of gotten all at Miravil spa down the road! She left Sirrera Tucson convinced she was an addict! Learned the destruction of cutting and couldn’t cope when transisitioning home! In addition I had my daughter genetically tested for best medication options for her genetic metabolism!! Three times they said it was misplace! the NP put her on a antidepressant that isn’t filtered by the Liver Most likely safest option for the alcoholic ! READ REVIEWS CAREFULLY! Mayb the place is helpful to the alcoholic!The Mental health of theses so called treatment centers are a scam they know the buz words to get u and when your child is suffering you want to believe them Don’t!!!!!!! Sierra Tuscon (ST) is not only for treating alcohol and drug related addictions, but also has separate treatment programs for mood disorders, eating disorders, sexual addictions, trauma/PTSD, and pain recovery!! ST also offers MANY integrative therapies like acupuncture, biofeedback, medical massage, yoga, Tibetan and mindfulness meditations, hydrotherapy, physical therapy, bodywork modalities, ND and dietary consults, etc... The care was awesome. I met other patients from a number of different countries. It is a world class facility. After 20 years of traditional drug based medical interventions for chronic pain--which ST also provides--it was the integrative therapies and cognitive behavioral therapies that were my primary reasons for choosing ST. Thanks to the highly qualified medical staff--who evaluated and "tweaked" the many prescribed medications I was on for maximum effectiveness. They discovered two medical conditions I didn't even know I had and am now being treated for at home. The admission representative did an excellent job preparing me prior to my out of state arrival that ALL prospective patients are evaluated by the ST medical and ancillary staff on site before they can be accepted. At my request, he even had an alumni contact me to answer questions that only a former patient could. The ST billing and insurance coders, are experienced at working with insurance companies and their benefit approvers. ST does NOT accept Medicare. To date, my only billing "surprise" was for the lab work which is done by an outside provider. I was discharged two months ago, and left ST after a month (weighing a few extra pounds as the food is excellent) without the use of my cane, and with a lasting 60 percent reduction in pain!! My quality of life has vastly improved and when I'm tempted to regress to old patterns of behavior and negativity, I have the free year long weekly support and encouragement of a Life Recovery Coach!!

Total bait and switch. I went for the pain and trauma program, but instead they put me in a completely different program that was impossible to keep up with in my condition. They lied about everything, if you have any issues at all they will not be addressed and they will lie to your family as well. Once upon a time long long ago I'm sure this place was wonderful but those days are long gone. I saw and heard staff talking junk about clients, I saw them break hippa and disability act many times. This place is nothing like how it is on the site or the admin say. I put my everything into this place and left worse then before I got there. Now I'm fighting to just get a copy of my own medical records. I've sent in multiple requests, my doctors have sent them record requests and they gave us the run around for months on end. Then they came back stating I would have to pay hundred of dollars for my copy. Something to hide?!

The main points I will be outlining here concern Sierra Tucson’s lack of transparency, honesty and ease of communication. When I was first put in contact with Sierra Tucson I was at Cultivate Counseling Center in Bolton, MA. I spoke with an admissions person over the phone. I shared my issues openly and honestly. I was led to believe that I was being admitted. I flew out to AZ and, upon arrival, was informed that my “admission” was provisional. [Meaning that were only checking to see if I’d be a good fit. It is not the same as a full admission.] This had NOT been explained to me prior. If it had, I would have sought business elsewhere. I stayed in the hospital portion of the facility. During this time I was 100% compliant and sought help from staff as needed. When the reasons for my discharge were explained to me, it had nothing to do with my behavior on the unit. It consisted of two points I had shared over the phone. Ergo, I never really had a chance of being admitted but I was brought out there on the pretense that I did.

I liked the program, but I honestly felt I learned more from the patients and friends I met while there then Sierra Tucsons Resident Therapist; however my process group was amazing and I learned so much from my small group. I needed a safe place where I could get help for anxiety and depression that had become too excruciating for me to deal with on my own. Sierra was there....they got me in the same day. It is not perfect...things do fall through the cracks sometimes; you do need to advocate for yourself at times to make sure you get the services you need. But there are layers they have built in as well of people that you can go to who will advocate for you and make it happen. The staff was wonderful; the food is pretty dang amazing as well. Be patient with inevitable imperfections; pick your battles; trust the process and some really wonderful things can happen. Like they say...expect a miracle. Their connect 365 aftercare also gives you a resource of support for a full year after you leave; and they will work with you to make sure you have the aftercare you need after leaving.

This was one false advertisement after another. It was a gorgeous facility but that didn't make up for all that game playing and falsification of records, overmedicating of patients, and code violations they had. All this after having multiple suicides on their campus and cutting staff. One would think if you were truly trying to help people you wouldn't cut stay before and after suicides then blame incoming patients for needing help. Yet, when you're a celebrity focused for profit money machine that's all you care about. What's worse is that, Acadia, their owner, wants to run many inpatient hospitals across the U.S. I'd say more like run them into the ground. Acadia is to mental and chemical health as CCA is to the justice department.

The place is beautiful and peaceful. However, I felt as if I fell through the cracks as far as treatment is concerned. I was out and into the community for over a week before any treatments, psychological or physical( massage, yoga...etc) and people that came out into the community with e or after, had been in treatment sessions within 2-3 days after. Even when I expressed concern about not being ready to go home, I was still sent home feeling depressed and anxious. I was home about a week before I was right back into the same funk that I was in prior to going to Sierra Tucson. I know that following up at home is important, but the people I was put in touch with didn't even give the kind of services I needed to heal. As a matter of fact, one of the therapists turned us away after making an appointment for couples therapy. She made the appointment and the next day called and cancelled saying that she was too busy. And THAT is exactly how I felt when leaving ST, I was left with a big empty pit and that black hole sucked me right back into it's grip. I think that, had I stayed another week, maybe 2, I would've been ready to continue my journey at home. Instead, I had to struggle, AGAIN, to find someone to help me. Did I meet some awesome people? yes, did I feel safe?, yes, Do I wish that I was HEARD?, yes. Even through family week, nothing was rectified, it was left open ended and when I came home there was no family support. I will say, the one thing that I got help with, was from Dr. Milan. He encouraged me to continue with bio-neuro feedback because it would help tremendously with my healing. I was able to find someone for that pretty quickly. It took several months and a good friend to find a therapist that I clicked with and to do EMDR. So, I'll have to say, that Sierra Tucson didn't save my life, Dr. Milan and my friend, did. There are things that work for some people and there are some things that don't. And, the reality of it is, I had 30 days away from the rat race and one positive healing treatment from Sierra Tucson, bio-neuro feedback. The administration just needs to make sure that someone doesn't fall through the cracks, the road to healing starts with great organization and compassion. Don't let that happen, cracks can become huge faults and those faults lead to instability and eventually, destruction

Worst experience. The system is completely dysfunctional with lack of organization, sensitivity, communication, and enforcement. I thought it was suppose to be the top of the country but it truly was nowhere near it. I'm definitely disappointed for being misled from the staff and even program. I will say that the medical team is great with years of experience in their profession. Dr. Seymour and Milan Sampat (does the bio nuerofeedback), I highly recommend. They both are devoted to what they do and hold a strong passion for it. Other than that this place was terrible with no stability.

I tried to get contact for filing a grievance and got a voicemail and no returned calls or answers. For the amount of money they should have staff to return calls and answer phones. The place sucks.... took 4 days to see a therapist and it was group therapy. They took me there and said was 100% approved by insurance and was a lie. After I paid for my flight and all.. after 4 days they said insurance didn't approve and had to leave. The therapist that gave me the news was rude and super not professional at all. I'm a professional who had a patient attend this place recently (2021). DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. Like other reviews had mentioned ST engages in false advertising -- they do NOT provide the therapies they claim. Additionally, they are in violation of licensure requirements: there are many employees there who are providing counseling (including "trauma therapy") that are NOT licensed, and not even CADAAC certified. It is appalling that this place has any accreditation. I'm making formal complaints to the national and state accrediting agencies.

Sierra Tucson is a spa like setting that provides basic rehab with frills. Sierra Tucson advertises itself as a dual diagnosis facility but beware; they have neither the staff nor expertise to handle anything beyond very mild depression or anxiety. We found them to be out of integrity when treating our son. Little to no treatment was provided; mostly housing and para professional staff interacted with him. His belongings were not sent home with him when he was abruptly discharged. I would urge caution in considering this place, despite their sales pitch. PS: they don't do refunds.

We could not be more disappointed in our daughter's treatment at Sierra Tucson in the spring of 2023. A little history, my wife (a licensed therapist) was a client at Sierra Tucson in the early 2000's and gave it glowing reviews as one of the best in the country which was a widely held view (and still erroneously is.) Our daughter went through the program earlier this year and after hearing about her experience there, (as well as other people in our community who have gone there in the past few years) it is painfully obvious since they were taken over by Acadia Healthcare that the level of care has dropped dramatically. To be fair, there are staffing shortages all over the country and getting good clinicians has been a challenge in much of healthcare post-pandemic. If Sierra Tucson were a mid-price facility, we'd give them some slack. But mid-priced, they are definitely not. Our daughter's one-month stay was billed at $100,000. For that price point, they should have some of the best services, clinicians and support available. That's what the celebrities you hear about expect when they go there. But, like us, I believe people are enamored with their history of excellence and not seeing Sierra Tucson for who they are today: a mid-level facility that charges premium prices by exploiting its sterling history. Our daughter was drawn to Sierra Tucson in large part to their use of EMDR treatment. Every day for 30 days, she would ask when the EMDR treatments would commence. And every day one of the overworked and scattered staff would say they're not sure. A couple of days before she was going to be discharged, she asked again, and they said they were so busy and too many people were there for the staff to handle, they weren't sure if she was going to get in. By the last day, they dropped it completely and she left never having done one EMDR session. In four weeks she saw her counselor precisely four times. Once a week. She requested more sessions but was told her counselor was too busy with so many other patients. She said her days were filled with lectures and handouts in crowded rooms with precious little therapy to enable her healing. Even on the luxury level, the facility was a mere shadow of what it used to be. We paid for a next-level package of massages and acupuncture but she was only able to access the services a few times since the waiting list was so voluminous. In closing, if you are considering Sierra Tucson for yourself or a loved one, we'd say do some more research on who they really are now versus what their prior sterling reputation used to be. They are most definitely not that anymore and you could likely do much better at another premium facility. A person only gets up to bat so many times in their healing journey and to have a prime opportunity like this wasted, we feel we need to warn future clients.

If you are a licensed professional, do not go here. If you disagree with your primary therapist's or psychiatrist's assessment of who you are, and decide to seek treatment in your own state, they will vindictively call your licensing board. I am a licensed psychologist who was treated by a 'therapist' by someone who a) forgot the relationship is the most important part of treatment, b) threatened me and called me names, c) didn't listen to me, the patient there for trauma, and d) when I said I was leaving (a week longer than I initially agreed to due to the threats), and seeking treatment in my own state, the therapist felt it her 'duty' to call the board - despite me continuing treatment, never practicing impaired or unethically in my life, and, most importantly, her never once being able to predict the future. The psychiatrist also literally told me he knew the research surrounding the best and most effective treatment for my previous neurodiverse diagnosis, and said he wasn't going to go along with that treatment, for some unexplained reason... They're so arrogant into thinking they know better than the patients on who they are as a person (what they call 'the experts on [your/the patient's] own life'), better than peer-reviewed research, and how to predict the future. If you go, don't tell them what you do unless you want your life to be harder upon your 'release'. There are some GREAT specialty therapists and resident therapists, however. But stay away if you hold a license in your profession. This is literally why there's a stigma in seeking treatment, and they're feeding right into it.

HORRIBLE! Managed and run terribly, most (not all) employees treat you with little to no respect. You are just a number. An employee (verified by another employee) came into my room and threw away my personal belongings, the facility took no responsibility. Not to mention holes in the floor of the balcony of one lodge, bee hives in the balcony of another lodge, and horrible sewage backing up and coming up through the drains of a lodge. The only positive thing about this place is that I made great friends. Other than that, worse decision ever. BEWARE
