Unfortunately I had my gallbladder surgery here Monday. I only chose this awful hospital because BCBS will pay me $250 to have my gallbladder removed at this place and since I needed to have it removed why pass up $250. Like everyone else I did NOT have a pleasant stay. Everything and everyone seemed so unorganized and detached. I drove myself to the surgery and naturally they would not let me drive myself home so the supervisor contacted my surgeon and he ended up admitting me overnight due to nausea. After I came out of surgery I was given Norco and Morphine at the same time and then they transferred me to the fourth floor. They would not let me take my 50mg prednisone I have been on even though the anesthesiologist gave me permission to take it. I brought the medication with me and ended up taking it anyway. My first nurse Linda was OK and she came in and told me she was there to give me percocet which I did not know the doctor wanted me to take but I took it anyway. That was around 530ish or 6pm. Hours later around 1130ish and it was wearing off my overnight nurse came in and I let her know I was ready for my morphine and norco and that I was ready to go to sleep. So she says OK I will give you the norco and it will take 30 mins to kick in and then you'll have to wait for the morphine. Fair enough even though I told her that's not how they administered it to me upstairs. Well 30 mins pass and she came back and I asked if I could have my morphine and she said no I can only give it to you every 2 or 3 hours. That was not what she said 30 mins prior so I said you mean I have to wait till 3am and she said yes. Ok 3am came and she comes and I asked again for my morphine. Mind you I was in severe pain and it hurt to move, get up, walk, etc. Basically felt like a chainsaw grinded my insides. Again she refused to give me the morphine and said she could only give it to me every 4 hours. At that point I called her out on it and said that is not what you said and you said every 2-3 hours. She kept saying no she didn't say that and I said I remember your exact words and you said 2 or 3 hours and at 3am. She then looks up and says "I might have said that" and she said since I am being discharged with pain meds they don't like to give shots only pills. What??? What does my discharge meds have to do with meds the doctor specifically ordered for me to take in the hospital? So finally I said look what is the problem I just had surgery and I am in pain can you please give me my morphine. So she says OK, leaves for 2-3 mins, and comes back and says good news I can give you morphine or toradol. She proceeds to try and explain what toradol is and and I stopped her and said I know what toradol is and that is not what they have been giving me and is not what I asked you for. Can you please give me my morphine. She finally says yes and goes to get it and when she comes back she seemed annoyed. That nurse Sharon Hendrix refused multiple times to give me the pain medication the doctor ordered for me. A nurse does not have that right or authority to go against doctor's wishes like that. I just had my gallbladder removed for crying out loud and this is how I was treated. Not only that but she even tried to get me to leave the hospital at 3am. She kept saying "you know you are discharged and can leave anytime you want". Mind you 3 hours prior she gave me a Norco which was still in my system so basically had I left it would be considered a DUI if I was pulled over. She automatically labeled me a drug seeker and deliberately denied me pain medication. This was a last minute surgery I had to have even though I did not want to. Also if you page a nurse it takes them like 30 mins just to check on you and you'll have to page them twice. No one seems to know anything etc etc. I will NEVER go back to this place. I will be filing a complaint with the nursing board though I doubt they will do anything.

I wouldn’t give this place any stars but I had to so I could post this.. Mom was taken by ambulance from work to shoals hospital the nurses or doctors did nothing to help her she was hollering out in pain when I walked in until we left they would not do anything out of their way to help her. Dr Powell was the worse of all he argued with my mom that nothing was wrong with her and didn’t even look at her charts this hospital needs to be shut down and all their license pulled because they will wait around and let you do before they lift a finger to help you.

1) My husband was dying of cirrhosis January, 2015. He was in ICU. A nurse frowned at me and told me I just needed to go back to ICU waiting room b/c I was covering my husband with a blanket when he said he was cold & the next minute, he said he was hot, so I took the blanket off of him. I was just trying to help him. 2) On May 4, 2018, I took my friend S to Shoals Hospital ER with a kidney stone attack. Nurse "Christie" was always very short-tempered and short with her answers if we asked her a question. S asked for a blanket and Christie threw it on the bed. S was in MAJOR, MAJOR pain & I ended up putting blanket around her shoulders, as Nurse Christie would not do so. S had been given strong, strong pain med and was "woozy" and Nurse Christie did not bother to even put the BED RAILS UP so S could not fall out of bed. When I picked S up outside hospital in my car & Nurse Christie rolled S out to car in wheelchair, S had to lift herself up out of chair and grab onto my car and get in by herself......Nurse Christie, once S's butt was out of wheelchair, turned chair & was already @ hospital ER door entrance without even seeing if S got in car safely. S used to work in ER as EMT (and earlier, on ambulance as EMT)....So she still is in touch w/ a nurse who works in ER. This nurse, M....Says Nurse Christie has been written up MANY, MANY TIMES but never FIRED.......For her evil, ill treatment of patients. Time to say BYE, BYE FELICIA! to NURSE CHRISTIE.....You sorry excuse for a nurse and human, you!!!!! 3) I will say, when I took S back re: her kidney stone pain Sunday afternoon (5/6/18) that Laura (?? I think was her name) was a very sweet, attending, caring & compassionate nurse. And so was the one who followed her on the next shift.

Husband treated at ER. Very incompetent care from nurse and doctor. Major symptoms ignored, critical history ignored. Nurse failed to perform orders, Dr failed to review to see if orders had been completed before issuing discharge. Dr failed to go over test results and diagnosis with patient until after discharge and complaint made insisting to speak to Dr. prior to leaving Elevated temp, BP ignored and not treated. Nurse was rude and condescending to patient and family.

Honestly If I could put no stars I definitely would. This hospital is so unprofessional and uncaring to any ER patients. After 2 visits this week and one by ambulance I refuse to ever use this hospital again. The nurse I had the first time was amazing and so caring but the second nurse acted and treated me as if she cared more about getting me out of there then tending to me. Then she argues with me as I am in extreme pain over a doctor excuse which I asked for the first time I was there and never got. I care about my health and if you do please consider another hospital before going to this place.

I've NEVER HAD NOT ONE BAD Experience with this group of X-ray Tech nor staff !! I've been using them now over15 years and plan on AlwayA continuing too !! They have worked me in in cases where they had too ! They bent over backwards to help me when needed too !! Very friendly fast n on top of what they do !! Yes at times the Pain was so GREAT I THOUGHT LORD PLEASE CAN THEY .... AFTERWARDS I WOULD REALIZE WHAT THEY DID IT WAS ME ....NOT TGTH !! I HAD TO USE TGET JUST THIS PAST CHRISTMAS WHEN I FELL AND BROKE MY HIP/LEG IN THE JOINT RIGHT BEFORE THAT COUPLE MONTHS IN ER WITH MAJOR PAIN IN LEFT SIDE THEY LOCQTLO A CYST THAT I HAD HAD SINCE BIRTH THAT HAD BEEN MISSED FOR SO MANY YEARS LIKE 56 PTL IT WAS NOT CANCER !! I HIGHLY I Recommend THE ENTIRE SHOALS HOSPITAL PACKAGE !! LOVE THESE FOLKS N GREATFUL TO HAVE THEM

My daughter was in pain with kidney stones for over 2 hours before she was seen and then had mutiple tests but, her pain was still untreated at the 4 1/2 hour mark. Staff is rude and unhelpful. My daughter has a very rare health condition and any illness can cause problems and yet still no answers or relief. I can't stand to see my child cry in pain for HOURS. These people should be ashamed.

This hospital is a disaster. Nurses are so unprofessional and emotionless. Don't bother pushing your call button during the afternoon, you will just be wasting your energy and time. They don't care if you are in pain or if your iv pump is beeping. No communication as far as nurses telling you what is going on. Good luck knowing anybody's name except for Connie the respiratory therapists that came in at 2:00 in the morning to work with my husband. She is the only one who introduced herself. One of the overnight nurses is wonderful and had compassion however i dont know her name either. I wish every other person at the hospital had their work ethic and bed side manner. Everybody else wants to put the blame on the doctors. Unfortunately we are stuck here due to insurance requirements. Hopefully we will be discharged soon!

I have never seen such lazy staff with such smart mouths. You can hear a pin drop in the hall way because nobody is doing anything. Or sometimes people in the beds crying for hours with Noone even coming to check on them. It's almost like they are waiting for you to die so they don't have to get off there lazy buts and do nothing. I have been here 3 times and all 3 was the same. Then been here with my wife twice. Same thing. And you see the staff sitting at the desk playing on there phone. Or kicked back chit chatting but never doing nothing.

I was in the ER the other nite . They didn’t ask me what was wrong they had me sign in and sit down and sit there for 4 hours they never got to me and never triaged me and I had fell and hit my head and my daughter was worried I had bleed mind on Brian ! I left after 4 hours of not getting in to see anyone!!!

When I was told my 1 year olds surgery was going to be here, to be completely honest I was afraid this hospital wasn't good enough. I figured it would be done at ECM or Keller. I was completely wrong though! This hospitals staff was great from top to bottom. I was very impressed and left very satisfied with our visit. I would recommend this place to anyone! Had to bring my husband Friday morning around 2 am to the ER with severe abdominal pain. From the moment we drove up to the ER doors until Sunday around noon when he was released, we were so impressed with the ER staff and the staff on 4th floor!!! Not only did they take excellent care of him they also took care of me. When they came to check on him or see if he needed anything they offered the same hospitality to me. Thank you ER and 4th floor staff members for take good care of us! Much love!

I will start out saying our triage nurse was awesome other than that this is the most horrible er I have dealt with. The last 2 times I have been there the doctors and nurses were rude and inconsiderate. Tonight I went there with 2 of my kids one with sore throat and fever and the other with flu like symptoms and fever. They instantly let me know they would not put both of them in the same room so they had different nurses. When my daughter was discharged the hateful nurse she had was sure hateful to my son and told him he was fine he didn't have flu. I could have handled that had she not been rude but other wise he wasn't her patient and it wasn't her business. By the way Dr. Montgomery is rude also there is no beside manner no sympathy or anything. I don't care if I'm dying I will drive straight by this hospital to go to another.

I was admitted straight to ICU from my doctors office. It was the best experience I've ever had at a hospital around here. Everyone treated me so kind. The nurses in ICU kept reassuring me that they would do anything they could to help make sure I had a peaceful stay. The student nurse from UNA was so sweet. She knew how sick and scared I was and ask if she could pray with me. The specialty doctors that were called in treated me so kind and had the best bed side matters. They actually cared and wanted to help me get better. I was moved out to 4th floor, where the nurses and everyone was so sweet. I'm very grateful how everyone treated me.

I absolutely love this hospital! I would never go anywhere else. I live in Florence and would drive across the river regardless to come here. They are so wonderful and sweet to there patients. I went to the ER a few months ago and they took such wonderful care of me. Everyone was so great with informing me what was going on, and asking if I needed anything. The doctor was very understanding and informing on what was going on. If there was a way I could rate this hospital on higher stars I most definitely would. Every experience I have had at this hospital as a patient was just as great and the last. Some of the best Doctors, Nurses, Patient Care Techs, Respiratory Therapist, Physical Therapist, Lab Techs, Billing department employees, Dietary employees, and housekeeping employees work at this hospital. I would never go anywhere else.

Well this is the worse stay starting off because it's with my two year old son... I'll give y'all the run down of the day and y'all agree or disagree. Arrived at 6 am registration went smooth and well no glitch there..went to 2nd floor nurse was great Stayed there until about 7:45am the came in to get my son to take him down for surgery surgery staff was great in explaining and amazing with my son 910 we were sent to room 405 Son arrived around 915 surgery staff got him settee in.. The nurse that came in stated that she would be his nurse took vitals and left the room a second nurse entered the room around 1030 and stated that he had a order for meds every 4hours and had to tell a whole life story and. Got confused telling her story.. I've pole been beeping with us resetting it and haven't seen a nurse but once for that and had to call them for that haven't seen then sense... medicine due child. Crying with I'v hurting nurses haven't been by to check Had to go get them to come flush I've and ask for more Meds. Nurse stated that they was not due until 430.. this will the be the last time I ever have a family member at this hospital for a over nite stay I understand we ain't the only pt here but there is 3 nurses sitting in offices chairs as I type this and our nurse has not even came by to check on us she sent another nurse down here

By far the worst experience of my mother's and my life. Rude nurses on the 4th floor that didn't treat her like a person but a job, didn't get home meds the whole time she was there. I had to put her on bed pans and change bed pads as well as reset her iv alarms and much more. She had a hip replacement and the nurse told us insurance wouldn't pay for an ambulance to take her to rehab, by the way hers would. They put my sick, weak mother in my car and I drove her. She will change doctors before we ever go here again.

I normally come here for my MRSA if it gets bad because most of the staff know me & most the doctors really listen but tonight I seen a new doctor & she was one of the rudest people I have ever met!!!!! She basically told me that once I stop crying & decide to let her squeeze a knot with no head then she would come back & walked out of my room! I have never felt so embarrassed over being in pain in my whole life!!!!!! I understand that they need to do their jobs but when I try & explain to you that it is not ready to drain then it would help if you listen! I have delt with this since 2006 & I know my body!!!!!! As long as she is working a shift I will not go back!!

This hospital is terrible! I came in with a severe allergic reaction and was having trouble breathing and it took 42 mins to start an iv and medicine! When my son went out because the alarm on my low oxygen went off Dr. B. P. Montgomery rolled her eyes at my son when he asked when they were going to start the iv she told me about. This was 21 mins into me being in the room. Response he received: "She has to finish the paperwork first." I have excellent insurance so they were getting paid. So if you are bleeding out or in serious need of medical attention go down the road to Helen Keller hospital! Maybe I wasn't the right "color". I am filing a formal complaint to the medical board about this hospital. Oh and I should of known better they were on the verge of killing my mother! Luckily we saved her and took her to Vanderbilt Hospital where THEY saved her life from the mistakes of Shoals Hospital!

I had surgery December 28th at Shoals Hospital and couldn't have asked for better care. From everyone who did my pre op tests to the surgical crew Jackie, Cheryl, Wendi, Brittany and Dr. Boyer . Dr. Cozart who did my surgery to the nurses, Patrick and Linda who took care of me after surgery. All of them were so nice and did an excellent job. All I can say is that Shoals ER staff was amazing with my daughter yesterday. She was there and Dr Florida and nurse named Deb done amazing with her. Big kuddos to them for making a mother and daughter feel much better and in good hands! They made sure my three year old understood everything they were doing and explained so great. They were so patient and it made my daughter feel better so she trusted to let them stitch her face. I would recommend anytime.

The nurse in the er that was seeing my girlfriend was a total bitch. She was rude and a smart ass I don't know her name but she was absolutely rude. I love shoals hospital for how they took care of my grandfather three years ago but last night was horrible. My girlfriend doesn't want to go back because of it.

I was treated like a drug addict. I have a bladder disease and when the doctor told me it wasn't my disease she discharged me. Dr. Montgomery should have done more testing. It could have been life threatening and she just turned me away without so much as a blood test. Very disappointed

Worst hospital I've ever seen!!!!!!! Refused to admit my father on two different occasions because they didn't think he was sick. I finally got him admitted on the third try and he lived five days before he died. No one attempted to do anything for him
