I Abhor the treatment on the medical side, this is beyond the worst among any "Medical professionals" I use that with quotations because its highly insulting that they even consider themselves professionals when they are completely the opposite, I can count 3 times where I was pulled off my medication cold turkey because there wasn't any communication on their side for anyone to return my calls for a prescription refill. First time I was just out of the Psych ward over at Huntsville Hospital last August. It took the nurse/psychiatrist two weeks just to give the PA approval for the medication to the Pharmacy. I was TWO WEEKS Without ANY medication after The Psych ward at HH spent a week getting me Chemically Balanced on them. The Second Time I left a message with them about a month ago, I informed the Secretary I need my prescriptions transferred to a different Pharmacy because the CVS on Bob Wallace was shut down without any notification given. He told me that I should expect a call with in 24/48 hours. 24/48 hours, nothing I called and left several messages with this person and on their machine, (Mind you I call it a lucky day if they even have the phone on and not with the machine that says "Due to our heavy call volume we can not take your call") That following Friday I had to be assertive with the guy who took my call I was 96 HOURS with out my medication and beyond Irritable, the nurse called me back telling me there is a refill waiting for you. This recent Friday marks THE THIRD TIME! I showed up at the office to give the secretary a note to the nurse making sure he wrote it down to give to a nurse, which he did. I get a call from the nurse that following evening, saying "There has been a prescription waiting for you" I tell her "There isn't a prescription refill listed on the bottle" Then the nurse, said "Dr. Yedla, approved for a refill last month. You shouldn't believe everything on the bottle". So like a fool I believe her and today I have my dad pick up my prescriptions and the pharmacist tells my dad there isn't any prescriptions here for you to pick up. This is beyond sickening treatment, having to DROP my medications THREE TIMES cold turkey. I'm honestly fed up with it. I'm at the point of filling out a form with the medical board. DO NOT GO HERE!

How in the world can this facility drop the ball on a patient with paranoia schizophrenia for MONTHS & not be held liable is beyond me. For 3 months his appts were rescheduled and no new meds were offered when his was no longer available! He hasnt eaten a meal in 4 months! He is living on juice, water, and now he cant even get applesauce down. He spent a month in Huntsville Hospital and they had to give him his psychiatric medication thru a shot. He was suppose to receive his shot again on the 17th of May & since "Wellstone" didnt administer it, he hasnt received ANY medication!! He has become very aggressive toward family & anyone who disagrees with him. It was recommended by a home health nurse that he go to the er so he went by ambulance and they didnt treat him, they sent him home!! Now he believes he never had paranoia schizophrenia yet Wellstone has been treating him for decades!! How can this facility not assume some responsibility here? He NEEDS HIS MEDS!!! We tried to get him involuntarily committed for non compliance and Dr Scott didnt agree with us. He has diabetes, high blood pressure, he has had a heart attack and since he can only swallow very small amounts of liquids, he believes he cant take his meds. He has lost 67lbs in the last 2 months and NOBODY CARES???? HOW CAN THIS BE??? He constantly complains about his esophagus and diaphragm. He hasnt urinated in TWO DAYS!! Yet the nurse told him he wasnt dehydrated. This makes NO SENSE! HELP HIM before he dies. This has been more than taxing on his wife and my Mother who lives in the same household. My aunt contacted every doctor, he has had ct scans, an endoscopy procedure (4 actually) and countless tests run and they cant figure out why he cant swallow more than juice or water. He is constantly asking for laxatives so he can poop YET his intake is so minimal that there's nothing to pass. Eventually his body will shut down and NOBODY will help him!! Why???

There are lots of caring people who work here trying to help a ton of people at once. I know public mental health doesn't get good money to get high-quality folks, but I can tell there are some people who care there. I went in looking for something for depression and to talk with a counselor and they've helped me to feel better. Sometimes you can't get through on the phone to reschedule, they need more receptionists.

Only go here if you expect to be there possibly days in a row at 730am to see a psychiatrist bc they only accept up to 4 ppl a day because it's first come first serve. Only 4 ppl a day!!! I'm never going back. The new therapist made me feel absolutely horrible and she was even gone from the office 15 min out of 30. The ppl at the front office are rude and they never answer their phone. Zero rating.

What a joke of a mental health facility. More worried about paperwork then helping patients with the therapy and treatment they need. Non stop computer system problems, losing assesment and treatment plans. Messages never get passed on to the proper people. Staff is rude on the therapy side. Medical side just throws medication without enough knowledge and research of the medication. I had severe side effects to meds and the psychiatrist just told me to stop taking instead if weaning off like the drug manufacturer highly recommends. Ended up in the emergency room due to severe withdrawls. They dont care if you run out of your medications if you cant see the therapist or psychiatrist in time. Staff turnaround is high. Please seek your treatment elsewhere.

This place is a total joke. They play around with people's lives who needs medicine, and good enough excuses for themselves not others as patients! A bunch of nuts in a hand basket. Its a terrible shame how their able to just not show up or call out of work. This has happened twice and I need to know who runs this place. I'm ready to call ALL television news channels around here to see if they can try an get answers. These people are trying to kill you no joke the nurse says oh we're taking you off of what works and we're going to give you something else that doesn't work...dont believe me look up vistoril it's for freaking allergic reactions and has not been proven to help severe anxiety. GOOGLE IT!!! I wish I could post the pics of the aftermath. I HATE THESE PEN PUSHERS AND WILL BUY MY MEDS OFF THE STREET IDC WHAT NONE OF THE DUMMIES SAY BECAUSE I KNOW WHAT WORKS FOR ME AT THIS POINT I HAVE NO CHOICE.

Wish I could give negative stars but unfortunately I have to give one. Worst place ever. I have been prescribed Xanax for 10 years, nothing I wanted in the first place. Came here seeking help to get off. A slow taper since I’d been on them forever. My Dr is trying a fast taper and is killing me. But these people are a joke the psych is rude and talked to me like I was trash. All I wanted was help......well I guess they’re helping me to my death bed.

This facility is not what most "patient's" assume it to be. Not everyone employed here has the patient's best interest in mind. In fact, some of the "Therapists" have plaques of "recognition" proudly displayed on their walls. Alabama, specifically Huntsville, has a checkered past, according to factual and first hand observation in their treatment of individuals suffering from mental illness. I would say approximately 75% of those employed with the state mental health system could use a serious refresher course in ethics, integrity, and morals. The former Mental Health Center located on Gallatin St. was demolished. Prior to the demolition of that facility, my organization did a walk through of the building. We were mortified by what we saw. It appears that the patients were locked in rooms approximately 4' x 4' x 9 with a bench and a ceiling camera. I suppose this is yet "another" example of why the medical profession in Alabama is referred to as "Medical Practice." I am sure that one day a descendant of the Doctor's family that established this inhumane system will be a prisoner of these devices.

Absolutely horrible medical service. I see I'm the 5th person to speak about the psychiatrist - we aren't kidding. The presiding Psychiatrist is a woman who is arrogant, stubborn, obstinate, and lofty. I had been prescribed low mg Clonazepam by a different established Psychiatrist for over a year but in my first appointment with her (this Psychiatrist), she quickly decided that that had to stop, because as a 'controlled substance', "It is only meant to be used for a certain period of time, never long-term". She also thought that she knew better than me about the antipsychotic that I'm on that I have much experience with. So she discontinued my 1mg prescription and wrote me a 0.5mg prescription instead, without telling me, when I had told her that the 1mg pills were what had worked for me based on much experience and my previous psychiatrist had established that prescription. The Psychiatrist is supposed to listen to your needs and be understanding, and this woman does the opposite of that so I would suggest saving yourself some time. She is Uncooperative. The medical staff is also difficult and uncooperative, and actually hung up the phone on me, their patient, when I had to frustratedly explain why what they were saying made no sense at all and did not solve my problem at all.

Reasonable, but communication is extremely difficult. At times you cannot reach anyone.... the volume of patients to therapists and doctors is too high. At the time of this writing they are getting better. I do believe that they could maximize services while maintaining their employee moral by reorganizing and hiring more people to handle phone calls.

I've been going there since 11/2015, my stepson commited suicide in his room while I was home. It was HORRIBLE. I STARTED having severe anxiety, nightmares, it was like a nightmare was running in my head 24/7. They put me on every drug possible and the only one that helped was Klonopin, I was on the smallest dose, never abused it, never had any effects from it other than it helped with the anxiety. And, Dr. Roar took me off of it, no explanation other than its addictive AT THIS POINT I DON'T CARE. The anxiety will never go away, so what do I do? She gave me an antidepressant what a joke. Now I'm sitting here, sweating, heart racing, hands numb, can't sleep, and scared to death. All because she don't want me taking it anymore . I'm sure she has never had this happen to her, and I PRAY TO GOD no one has to go through this. I'm loosing my mind and she don't want me addicted to it, I'm 60 years old. I DON'T CARE! i don't recommend this place to anyone. I love her receptionist Kim , she's the ONLY one there that's professional the other ones act like they hate there job. I continued going because she was giving me Klonopin and my family doctor advised me to stay so she could write it. LEXAPRO DOES NOT help, not does and other antidepressant. I would not recommend going there if you really need help, these people don't care about you. Unfortunately there aren't many mental health places available in the area anymore. I've called a few private physchiatrist they won't take me because I'm being seen by her. I am scared to death right now, I called this morning at 8:30, it's now 8:00 at night, and no call. That says alot!

Having to do a walk in appointment to schedule for your first appointment is absolute insanity!! We have been up here 3 times now, at 8am, mind you, my son lives an hour away and works nights so literally will get 3 hours of sleep (and you know mental illness thrives on lack of sleep) and still cant get 1 of the 3 appointments for a 'walk in' offered! His old provider cannot prescribe medications any longer because he is with wellstone and now he is completely out of meds and they're like....oh, sorry. Hello! You can't stop meds abruptly!! This is crazy! Not at all ok!!

I am very disappointed with Wellstone behavioral health. I am on an anti-depression medicine and they allow my meds to run out for days And say they will call me back but don't. I currently have called them 3 times in the past three days, and my wife has called them once. They finally called me back to tell my they could not refill my meds till the weekend was over, even though I called during the week, with no response back from them. It is now 5 days Ive been off my meds. They should really do a better job. Their lack of responsibility could be dangerous to people's health, mental and physical. I would not recommend WellStone behavioral health to anyone.

Dr Roark is a joke and so is her nurse Betty. Had several major side effects from meds and could never get them to call me back! Luckily I wasn't suicidal but I did stay in bed weeks at a time. I could not function. Gave me meds that I have already tried and wouldn't listen. I came there for help but unfortunately I am much worse off than before I ever went.

This place saved my life... I see all the negative comments on here and I don't understand why.... I came here to get a assessment and asked them to refer me to inpatient which I got to choose where I went, and I went to cedar lodge for 21 days and then I'm doing IOP here all of the staff are very kind but communication on your part is key if you really want help they will indeed help you along your journey to recovery

First day I went I thought I'd be seen by someone....nope. you get an assessment to see if you need help. Second visit you see a therapist but it's pretty much like the first visit, then you have to call and make an appointment to see a doctor if you need medicine. This process is stupid. I'm originally from Tennessee and they are so much better at least when I was in Tennessee I saw a therapist that day got put on medicine that day. Damn I miss Tennessee......

The guy with the glasses that does the admitting before you meet a therapist is rude. He doesn't care if you are on the edge of killing yourself. He lied to me about therapy times and how I couldn't get a certain therapy. Once I left I called and they told me he lied. They fixed it, he shouldn't work there. He doesn't care about people who's been sexually abused.

ATTENTION PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIANS ESP.! DO NOT send your loved one to WELLSTONE's "DRUG and RELEASE" facility. My family lost our adult son with autism due to their negligence and malpractice. He was released to a man that we had an order of protection and emergency guardianship at the time. ME and our son's local therapy pleaded from Wellstone CEO, Jeremy Blair for help prior to his unsafe discharge but like his staff NO RESPOPNSE. The facility will NOT communicate effectively, if at all with you even if you make multiple professional requests in writing. The facility will not involve any meaningful if at all family therapy sessions. This facility will not collaborate (even if you hold court orders with the police to keep your loved ones safe. And, this facility will not involve legal guardians in creating a safe discharge plan or even share with you any plan whatsoever. AND CAUTION: If your loved one is involved in any criminal proceedings jail diversion, DO NOT ALLOW THE COURT to appoint the WELLSTONE HIRED court liaison, Tammy Leeth to serve as the court ad litem. She works for WELLSTONE and only makes decisions that are in line with corporate interest of this FAILED MENTAL HEALTH facility. SHE is NOT impartial as the law requires. SEND your loved one out of state for mental health care ASAP! Consult with other families for support because you will NOT get either effective professional treatment or anyone that cares about human lives or the sanctity and safety of family at WELLSTONE. As a mother who has lost my son due to WELLSTONE next stop Publications. . . , Professional Development Presentations for real professionals, media advocacy! Please be ADVISED.
